Binge-eating in teenage girls: It’s time to say no

How to prevent teenage obesity in girls

Binge-eating and binge-watching are two factors contributing to health issues like obesity among teenagers. As they shy away from exercise and feast on junk food, youngsters increasingly fall prey to poor food habits. This, coupled with a sedentary lifestyle, set the stage for teenage obesity, which can lead to gynecological and hormonal issues like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in girls. Eventually, this could lead to infertility issues, say doctors.

Obesity in girls can also lead to mood swings. Besides, it puts them at greater risk of diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and thyroid imbalances. Teenagers with obesity can be vulnerable to bullying, body shaming and inferiority complex and end up preferring social isolation.
