7 tips to get better sleep

Drinking a glass of warm milk before bed helps get better sleep. Milk contains a substance called tryptophan which makes a person fall asleep.

Have warm milk

When you’re not sleepy, keeping your eyes shut won’t help you to fall asleep. Try reading a book in low light or listening to soothing music until you start feeling drowsy. Avoid using any gadget.

Don’t force your sleep

Midnight snacking not only disrupts sleep patterns but also causes indigestion and discomfort, making it challenging to fall asleep.

Avoid midnight snacking

Darkness helps to stimulate the production of melatonin, a hormone that helps you fall asleep quickly.

Keep the room dark

Never eat full meals just before going to bed. It can cause acid reflux and bloating of the stomach which affects sleep.

Have a light dinner

Sleeping in a warm bedroom will not help you fall asleep. A cool temperature or 1 to 2 degrees less than the ambient outside is ideal for good sleep.

Maintain a cool room temperature

Alcohol acts as a sedative. Even though alcohol may help you fall asleep, it interferes with the quality of sleep.
