While trying to lose weight, it’s crucial to make wise food choices. Here are five foods you should avoid completely.

Fast food

With their high cholesterol and carbohydrate content, they can be detrimental to weight loss. They are often high in sodium and contain MSG (monosodium glutamate).

Foods with added sugar

Avoid food and drinks containing excess sugar, like sweets, chocolates and soft drinks. Watch out for simple sugars, including fructose, corn syrup and processed sugar. These can hinder your progress.

Packaged or frozen food

Ready-to-eat meals, packaged juices, canned foods, salted butter, fast food, processed cheese, preserved meat and sauces contain excessive salt, preservatives and unhealthy fats.

Deep-fried food

Deep-fried items such as French fries, onion rings, and fried chicken absorb a high quantity of oil. Thus, they are loaded with calories.

Baked items

Baked items like cookies, cakes, and pastries can make weight loss difficult. They are calorie-dense and contain large amounts of sugar and saturated fat.
