Did you know that consuming some specific foods can be life-threatening for your furry friend? Here’s what should be kept away from your dog’s reach.

Chocolate

Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine which dogs’ liver cannot metabolize. It accumulates and causes toxicity. Chocolate poisoning in dogs can lead to increased heart rate, seizures etc.

Grapes and raisins

Raisins are toxic for your dog’s kidneys and can even cause acute kidney injury.  Grapes are also poisonous for your dogs and could cause symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea.

Alcohol

The toxic component in alcohol for your dog is ethanol. It can cause drop in blood pressure, low blood sugar and symptoms include difficulty breathing, reduced coordination, and tremors.

Coffee/caffeine

If your dog has ingested caffeine, it could end up causing abnormal heart rhythms, tremors, seizures, vomiting diarrhea and excessive thirst and urination.

Avocado

Avocados contain a compound called persin which is poisonous for your dog. It can end up causing gastrointestinal distress.

Onion and garlic

It  contains compounds disulfides and thiosulphates which can be poisonous for your dog. It can cause vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, drooling and difficulty breathing.
