Can ‘Oatzempic’ help you lose weight?

–  Neha Jain

The Oatzempic challenge is a social media trend involving a smoothie claiming to aid quick weight loss. It began with a user's claims that the smoothie can help one shed 40 pounds in two months.

Oatzempic is a smoothie made with half a cup of rolled oats, a glass of water, lime juice and cinnamon.

What’s the Oatzempic smoothie?

While the rolled oats smoothie may meet the need for fiber in your diet, it deprives you of essential nutrients. Besides, the processed oats get absorbed quickly, leading to a blood sugar spike.

The problem with Oatzempic

Studies show that a high-fiber diet promotes gut health and fat loss. So add dals, beans, legumes, nuts, seeds, veggies and fruits with a low glycemic index like raspberries and blackberries to your meals.

Opt for fiber-rich meals

Instead of following unverified trends, focus on gradual and sustained weight loss. The ideal weight loss rate is 2 kilos per month, and shedding kilos faster could affect your body and overall health.

Aim at gradual weight loss

Keep a tab on your calorie intake and get other factors like hydration, exercise and lifestyle in order to lose weight in a healthy and sustained manner.
