Ramappa started basic workouts at the age of 26 and was fascinated by the fitness and bodybuilding competitions and always felt the need to be part of it. “My elder son is a fitness coach in Bengaluru and I started to work out with him post my retirement,” said Ramappa who returned to his hometown Shivamogga after a few years of retirement. At the age of 65, Ramappa won a gold medal in a national-level competition hosted by International Natural Bodybuilding Association, India. “Exercising every day for an hour has kept me healthy and away from all the diseases. I encourage everyone to keep themselves physically active, especially after 60 as it also helps in developing stronger immunity,” he said. Ramappa added that there is no age bar to start exercises, but they need to do it under expert guidance. “I have sustained a few injuries while working out and have torn my muscles and sprained my ankles as well. I take good rest for a week or until I feel better and resume my routine,” he said. This video is a glance into his workout routine and life at 71.
