Treating people with HIV since 1998: In conversation with Dr Glory Alexander

Dr Glory Alexander has been working for the cause of HIV for the last 26 years. The first case of a foreign individual with HIV whom she treated motivated her to dedicate herself to the cause. In 1998, Dr Glory with like-minded supporters, established the Action, Service and Hope for AIDS (ASHA foundation), a charitable Trust helping HIV/AIDS-infected people, their families and society in Bangalore. “The fact that he chose to die away from his family, society and country to avoid discrimination, shook me. When he asked me if he had HIV, he perhaps gave me a hint,” says Dr Glory.
