Are sleep trackers accurate?

Sleep tracking devices track our sleep patterns and give us information about when we are sleeping, how many hours we are sleeping, the quality of sleep and some devices even calculate the different stages of sleep. But how accurate are these sleep wearables? Are they effective? If not for these devices, what are the other warning signs one should take note of?
