Unpacking the power of plant proteins

With some planning of combinations, plant-based foods can meet all our protein needs, say nutritionists

Among the many dietary options available, the vegan diet has begun to capture the hearts and appetites of individuals worldwide. The Netflix documentary The Game Changers even showcases athletes adopting veganism and how it benefits them.

A vegan diet consists purely of plant-based foods devoid of meat and dairy. But where do adherents of such a diet get their protein requirements from? Research says that a well-planned vegan diet can help meet all the nutritional needs of the body while preventing the risk of certain health disorders. A plant-based diet has also been shown to help maintain a lower body mass index, i.e., a lower body weight.

The following infographic sheds light on how one can make the most of a vegan diet through proper food selection and strategic combinations.
