Indian berries, available year-round. However, little is talked about them they offer much the same health benefits as their exotic counterparts. Among the numerous varieties, gooseberries, java plums, rose apples, mulberries, and conker berries are low in calories and rich sources of antioxidants, and vitamins. Thus, they help protect body cells from oxidative stress.

Gooseberries, for instance, are rich in antioxidants, including phytonutrients, as well as vitamin C and E. According to Emi Koshy, a nutritionist from Alappuzha, Kerala, these properties assist in combating the effects of ageing, managing type 2 diabetes, and supporting heart health.
